Through ongoing sports training and competitions, Special Olympics West Hawaii can realize the goal of bringing all people with intellectual disabilities into a larger society under conditions whereby they are accepted, respected, and given a chance to become productive citizens.
Special Olympics is a non-profit 501 (C) (3) organization that relies on donations from individuals, businesses, foundations and community events. It does not receive funding from the federal government, the Kennedy Foundation, nor the Aloha United Way agency.
All the money raised in West Hawaii, stays in West Hawaii to support our program in the areas of competition, sports and training, development, outreach, and family and public education. Special Olympics strives to meet its goal to ensure more than 85 percent of funds are used for program delivery for the athletes. All contributions to Special Olympics West Hawaii are tax deductible.
As Special Olympics does not charge its athletes to train and compete in its activities, so it becomes a challenge to provide everyone with a chance to benefit from Special Olympics.
We depend on your support to provide individuals the opportunity to get out on the playing field and experience the joys that participation in sports can provide. Your financial assistance enables us to reach out to more and more athletes.
